MAUI COFFEE VS KONA COFFEE

If you enjoy Kona Coffee, you'll love Maui Coffee! The coffee plant was brought to Kona in 1828 where it was branded as one of the more expensive and rarest coffees in the world. During the 19th century coffee spread throughout the Hawaiian Islands where it continues to produce high quality coffee. Maui produces the same variety of Kona Coffee (100% Arabica) and is now available to order online.

WHY IS FAIR TRADE NOT AN ISSUE

Fair trade doesn’t apply in our case! All our coffee is grown and roasted on Maui. We operate our business in the USA and all the money stays home to grow our economy. We are a sustainable island business.

OUR STORY

In 2000, surfing buddies turned successful restaurateurs, Louis Coulombe and Stephane Bel-Robert purchased over 8 acres of near-virginal upcountry land to grow natural produce for their Pacific’O and I’o Restaurants. At first the diversified farm was largely experimental with citrus and stone fruit orchards and few coffee trees. The coffee thrived. Today, O’o farm matures with fruit trees, rows of lettuce and garden vegetables, and green houses with flavorful tomatoes, herbs and flowers. It has attracted the likes of Bizarre Foods’ Andrew Zimmern. For Louis, rarely seen without coffee in hand, roasting coffee is part of his weekend relaxation. While his current roasts are beans from the larger Ka’anapali Estate on Maui, Louis hopes future roasts will be his very own. In 2009, Stephane, Louis and chef partner James Mcdonald opened Aina Gourmet Market, a local foods marketplace with a full coffee bar. Like its sister venues, Aina proudly serves 100% Maui grown and O’o Farm roasted coffee!
